The Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipal Assembly has successfully organised a disbursement programme aimed at empowering persons with disabilities in the municipality, reinforcing its commitment to inclusive development and social equity.
Speaking at the event, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Ebenezer Cobbinah, described the programme as a practical demonstration of the Assembly’s belief that differently abled persons should not be defined by their limitations but by their abilities, resilience, and determination
“Persons who are differently abled are not defined by their limitations but by their ability, resilience, and determination,” the MCE stated.
As part of the initiative, the assembly distributed essential livelihood equipment, including fufu pounding machines, corn milling machines, hair dryers, wheelbarrows, and other working tools to beneficiaries.
He explained that the items were intended to promote self-reliance, dignity, and sustainable income generation.
Addressing the beneficiaries directly, Hon. Cobbinah encouraged them to make effective use of the equipment provided to enhance their economic status and ensure family sustainability.
“I encourage you not to allow your present situation to overshadow your future life progression,” he urged.
In his closing remarks, the MCE called on traditional authorities, civil society organisations, development partners, and the private sector to continue working collaboratively with the assembly to advance inclusive development in the municipality. tape
In an interview with Dynamite News, the Western Regional Chairman for Persons Living with Disabilities, Mr Danel Okyere, urged the government to release the funds on time. He said 33 people out of 150 received the items.
