As the #OccupyBoG protest took off this morning, the Minority Leader in Parliament said his outfit was not going to submit their petition to other officials aside from the Governor of the Bank of Ghana.

According to Cassiel Ato Forson, the group was ready to stay at the Central Bank for as long as they could if the boss, Dr Ernest Addison did not avail himself to be served.

As they managed through security borders to the Bank of Ghana, Dr Ernest Addison gave the minority a “showdown”. He was not there to receive the petition, neither were his two deputies, but rather, the head of Security the Bank of Ghana.

This infuriated the minority who refused to give the petition to the head of security.

According to the minority leader Dr Casiel Ato Forson, he feels disrespected by the Governor of the Bank of Ghana Dr Ernest Addison for refusing to appear before them to receive the petition.

Dr Casiel Ato Forson said because the governor refused to receive the petition they will give it to anyone, but rather will come back again with a series of demonstrations till the governor avails himself to receive the petition

The protesters are accusing the governor, Dr. Ernest Addison, of mismanaging the central bank and plunging it into bankruptcy.

They also accuse him of overseeing reckless expenditure, including the construction of the new $250 million Bank of Ghana headquarters.
