Mohammed Brothers Accountant Osumanu Mohammed presents 100 bags of cement to Acting Tarkwa Prisons Commander Bright Gbogbo.

Mohammed Brothers Limited (MBL), a small-scale mining company in Tarkwa, has donated 100 bags of cement to the Tarkwa Prisons to support the construction of a dormitory for newly trained prison officers.

The donation forms part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative to support institutions and development projects within the community.

The Accountant of Mohammed Brothers Limited, Osumanu Mohammed, presented the items on behalf of the company.

He explained that the company decided to support the project because of the important role prison officers play in maintaining security and ensuring the effective administration of the justice system.

According to him, providing decent accommodation for newly trained officers is essential to improving their welfare and creating better conditions for them to work.

Mr Mohammed said the company was therefore responding to the need by contributing to the ongoing construction project.

Receiving the donation, the Acting Commander of the Tarkwa Prisons, Mr Bright Gbogbo, expressed appreciation to Mohammed Brothers Limited for the gesture.

He said the donation would contribute to the progress of the dormitory project and help address the accommodation needs of officers who would be posted to Tarkwa after their training.

Mr Gbogbo appealed to other companies, organisations, philanthropists, traditional authorities and individuals to support the project.

He said the Tarkwa Prisons needed the collective support of stakeholders to complete the facility and provide suitable accommodation for the officers.

He urged businesses operating in Tarkwa and the surrounding communities to emulate Mohammed Brothers Limited by contributing materials, funds or other resources towards the project.

Mr Gbogbo stressed that support for the project would ultimately contribute to improving the welfare of prison officers and enable them to perform their duties more effectively.

The dormitory is expected to accommodate newly trained male and female prison officers who will be posted to Tarkwa after completing their training.
