Medeama Sporting Club has officially announced the return of Mr. James Essilfie as Chief Executive Officer (CEO), marking a significant moment in the club’s history. His comeback comes four years after stepping down from the role in 2021, ending an illustrious 11-year tenure that shaped Medeama into one of Ghana’s most competitive football clubs.

In a statement released on October 28, 2025, the Tarkwa-based club described Mr. Essilfie’s return as “a new and exciting chapter” in its journey.

“Mr. Essilfie returns to the role four years after stepping down, following an illustrious 11-year tenure that established him as one of the most influential administrators in the Club’s history,” the statement said.

Under his previous leadership, Medeama achieved major milestones both on and off the pitch, earning a reputation as a well-structured and ambitious football institution. Even after stepping aside in November 2021, Mr. Essilfie remained part of the club’s leadership as a Board Member in charge of Administration, where he provided strategic guidance and institutional support.

The club’s President, Board, Management, and supporters have expressed delight over his return, citing his wealth of experience, deep knowledge of Medeama’s culture, and unwavering commitment to excellence.

“His vast experience, deep understanding of the Club’s culture and unwavering commitment to excellence are expected to further strengthen Medeama’s organisational structure and long-term vision,” the club noted.

Medeama SC says it looks forward to a new era of progress under Mr. Essilfie’s leadership as it continues its quest for success in Ghanaian and continental football.
