Former Inspector-General of Police, Paul Tawiah Quaye, has reportedly passed away after a period of illness.
Sources within senior police circles have begun sharing tributes, describing him as a disciplined and dedicated leader who played a key role in strengthening the Ghana Police Service. Official confirmation from his family is still pending.
In 2009, former President John Evans Atta Mills appointed Quaye as Inspector-General of Police. During his tenure, he introduced reforms to improve professionalism, enforce discipline, and rebuild public trust in the police.
Colleagues often described him as a “gentle giant” because he combined a calm personality with firm leadership. He focused on modernising police operations and ensuring officers followed high ethical standards.
Quaye retired in 2013 after serving the Ghana Police Service for several decades. His legacy continues to influence policing standards in Ghana.
More details about his passing are expected as family and officials release formal statements.
