Firm Health Ghana Foundation, in collaboration with the Government Hospital Bogoso, is set to organize a Medical Outreach and Dine with the Aged program at Mfantefokrom, a deprived community in the Prestea Huni-Valley Municipality on 6th August 2025.
Ahead of the event, officials from both organizations paid a community entry visit to the Chief and elders of Mfantefokrom and nearby communities to formally announce the initiative and seek their blessings. The traditional leaders welcomed the team warmly and commended them for recognizing the needs of the people.
Speaking during the visit, Dr. Sylvester Akpah, Executive Director of Firm Health Ghana Foundation, highlighting the objectives of the outreach. “Our goal is to reach the unreached with essential healthcare services. Many elderly people in rural communities lack access to basic medical care”.
“This program is designed to not only provide free health screenings and medication but also to appreciate our aged with a special meal and fellowship,” he added.

Dr. Joseph Darko, Medical Superintendent of the Government Hospital Bogoso, explained the motivation behind the collaboration.
“This outreach allows us to extend our healthcare services beyond the hospital walls. We want to detect silent conditions such as hypertension and diabetes early and offer education, treatment, and referrals. The Dine with the Aged aspect is to honour and connect with our elders on a human level,” Dr. Darko noted.
The event will feature free medical consultations, health education, treatment, and a social gathering with the elderly in the community. It is expected to create awareness of healthy aging and promote community-based healthcare interventions.
In response, Nana Kofi Saim, Chief of Mfantefokrom, expressed deep appreciation to the team during the community entry.
“We are truly grateful for this initiative. Our community has long needed such attention. Many of our elderly suffer quietly because they cannot travel to access healthcare. This is a blessing, and we thank Firm Health Ghana Foundation and the Government Hospital for remembering us,” the chief remarked.
The upcoming outreach is seen as a major boost for public health in the area and is expected to leave a lasting impression on the lives of Mfantefokrom residents, particularly the elderly.
