The Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipal Assembly has launched the Business in a Box (BizBox) Project to create jobs for the youth in the Municipality.
The BizBox Project is a government initiative aimed at fostering entrepreneurial skills development and job creation among the youth.
This is a partnership between the Mastercard Foundation and Ghana Enterprises Agency (GEA).
The goal of the 4-year Project is to create dignified and fulfilling jobs for 250,000 young people in Ghana between the ages of 15 and 35, with 70% being women and 10% Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) by 2027.
The synergy of this partnership lies within the Agency’s mandate as the apex body to promote and develop Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Ghana and the Foundation’s vision for Ghana; to enable 3 million young women and men access dignified and fulfilling work by 2030.
The project is categorized into five (5) pillars; Youth Skills Development, Access to Market, Access to Start-up Kits, Youth and Social Networks and Institutional Strengthening, Policy, and Regulatory Support.
Fifty percent (50%) of the support will focus on Agriculture and Agribusiness which will look at the last mile of the value chain adding value to products in value chains such as rice, poultry, Shea butter, soya beans, aquaculture, piggery and ruminants.
Thirty percent (30%) will focus on Tourism and Creative Industry, ten percent on Building and Construction and 10% for Other Sectors which will focus on trade areas such as baking and confessionary, welding and fabrication, leather works, auto Mechanics, dress making, hairdressing, wash and sanitation etc.
Launching the project, the MCE for Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipality, Hon Benjamin Kessie noted that the President introduced this to help individuals to establish their own businesses.
He entreated all applicants to make good use of the opportunities given them to learn trade or venture into any agribusiness after which they will get startup kits to start their businesses.
Hon Kessie encouraged the youth to take every step in the process seriously so that they can acquire the necessary skills and the startup kits ti start their own businesses.
“I am hopeful this will be helpful to you as individuals, your families and the country at large. We shall make follow ups to make sure your are making good use of the capital so that other people can also get access to make life better, he added.
