A 48-year-old man, identified as Alhassan Majid, has reportedly died following a violent confrontation over egg shells at Dompim in the Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipality of the Western Region.
According to eyewitness accounts, the incident occurred about two weeks ago when a young man known as Kesse confronted the deceased for allegedly dumping egg shells into a nearby gutter. The disagreement quickly escalated into a heated argument.
Reports indicate that Kesse later returned with a group of men armed with stones, sticks, and other weapons. The attackers allegedly beat up Alhassan Majid, leaving him unconscious.
He was rushed to the Tarkwa Municipal Hospital for medical attention but was pronounced dead the following day.
The deceased’s brother, Nashiru Iddrisu, who witnessed the incident, noted that the incident has been reported to the Dompim Police and two suspects were arrested, “but the family is deeply concerned about the slow pace of police investigations”
He said the family had expected all the suspects to have been arrested by now and called on the Ghana Police Service to expedite action and bring the perpetrators to justice to serve as a deterrent to others.
Police are yet to comment on the incident.
