Two Suspects Arrested for Attempted Robbery Near Asankrangwa

The Western Central Regional Police Command has arrested two men for attempting to commit robbery near Asankrangwa in the Western Region.

The suspects, identified as 28-year-old Mohammed Abdul-Salam and 42-year-old Karim Yakubu, were found hiding in a bush along a section of the road.

According to a statement by the Ghana Police Service, posred on Facebook, their suspicious behavior drew the attention of a police patrol team in the area. Upon spotting the officers, the suspects tried to flee, leading to a chase.

The pursuit ended at an abandoned mining site, where the two suspects jumped into a muddy pit in a desperate attempt to escape. Police officers, however, managed to retrieve them from the pit and placed them under arrest.

A search conducted at the scene uncovered one shotgun, three AAA cartridges, and a Nokia keypad mobile phone.

The suspects are currently in police custody and assisting with ongoing investigations.
