The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) vehicle reported stolen in Tarkwa has been recovered, and a suspect is currently in police custody, according to a statement from the Western Central Regional Police Command.
The vehicle, a white Toyota Land Cruiser with registration number GS 1845-23, was stolen in the early hours of 15th April 2025 from the residence of an EPA employee at Budo City, a suburb of Tarkwa.
Following swift police action, officers from the Northern Regional Police Command arrested the suspect, identified as Salifu Gariba, on 16th April 2025 at Kukobila, along the Tamale-Bolgatanga highway. The stolen vehicle was successfully retrieved during the operation.

Police say preliminary investigations suggest the vehicle was taken while parked at the private residence of the EPA staff member. Salifu Gariba is currently in custody and will be processed for court in accordance with the law.
The police have commended the collaborative effort between the regional commands and assured the public of their continued commitment to fighting crime and protecting public property.
