“I remember mama, and the love that she gave. Kneeling by her bed sideI can still hear mama say, “the people are depending on you don’t you let them down”. I remember mama in a happy way.” Shirley Caesar
As I borrow from the lyrics of this song, I write to congratulate one of the greatest women in my life. It feels so good, special, and a blessing to wish my mum a HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY.
Its really touching to tell mama words I have not said to her before. I am elated to tell mama how blessed I am to have her as my mother. Mama, you know there are so many names I call you with but you perfectly understand. I thank God for making you the woman who conceived me.
Our relationship has not only being a mother and son but I brother-sister and friends. I am grateful to you because knowing Jesus did not just affect your life but my life and my other siblings. I grew up through schools knowing that you support my social, academic, spiritual and professional development.
You provided me comfort to develop both fully and truly. In my weakness and failure, you stood by me and urge me on to be who the Lord wants me to be. You encouraged me to teach the choir (adult choir) songs even to people who were old enough to be my mums and dads.
You supported me to teach Bible to the Students Home Success Fellowship and to learn and play the keyboard. You made time to open the Bible with me as I explain its deep truth. You provided me necessities during my periods of fasts and prayers. You accepted my prayers and prophecies for you, with faith and assurance.
You gave me opportunity to pray for the sick even before administering drugs. Yes! You debated my cultural and social philosophies to ensure I become a better person in my community. What more? You tolerated my dissenting views in matters, during our sittings parliament. Mama! I bless God for your life.
I remember our after-dinner talk in the year 1995 and how you casually expressed your desire to see one of your children being a preacher. These words affected my commitment to Christ and His church. I have grown to understand that this was one of the most profound prophecies of my life even as I preach Gods Word across the oceans. Yes! Mamas real PROPHECY. I give God the Glory for your life mama!
You made time to cook my preferred meals whenever I visited you. I really appreciated it because I know how disturbing it was. It was real love of a mother I saw in you. I cannot over emphasize when I was sick. But, yeah, mama! You were there by my bed side, giving me treatment after prayer and meals.
Sometimes, I did wonder how much you cared for me and I smiled within me. This is Love!My wifes mother told her how you committed yourself to take care of her when she got sick as a young girl. She recounted how you said Millicent is mine own and that you will give her all the care needed, just to relief her mum to get back to her business. Today, she occupies a very important position in my life, taking responsibility from where you left off. Mamas real PROPHECY.
And after my bachelors degree, whenever we met to discuss about furthering my education, you would always say, dont worry, you will further your studies. Today, I study under full scholarship. Mama! Your real PROPHECY has really been true in my life. I bless God for how far Hes brought you through.
I thank God for the strength, protection, favour and deliverance Hes brought your way. Indeed, Okyeso Nyame (the Provider) has not failed you. And I know Hes not finished with you yet. Your testimony is going to get bigger and sweeter. On this special day, I wish you a blessed and memorable HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY and CONGRATULATION! God bless you mightily!!!
