In the run-up to the December 7 polls, Independent Candidate Joy Joycelyn Andoh has emerged as a favorite among constituents in the Tarkwa Nsuaem Constituency, ahead of incumbent George Mireku Duker and NDC Candidate Salifu Issah Taylor according to an analysis by GEO-NET.
GEO โ NET is a non governmental or independent research group that relies on primary data development and does analysis on it to reach scientific conclusions.
The research, which sampled the views of 1,200 people, sought the views of the marketability of policies of all the three parliamentary candidates in the Tarkwa Nsuaem Constituency; George Mireku Duker of the NPP, Issah Salifu Taylor of NDC and the independent candidate Joy Joycelyn Andoh.
Joy Joycelyn Andoh
Out of the sample size, 58.8% of constituents feel that Joycelyn Andoh’s detailed and comprehensive policy discussions are a key factor influencing their decision to vote for her.
Her focus on addressing pressing local issues appears to resonate deeply. However, 25% of voters cite voter apathy as a hindrance, despite recognizing the substance in her policy direction.
Additionally, 15.9% reject her candidacy solely due to party affiliations.GEO-NETโs findings suggest that Andohโs emphasis on clear and relatable policies could be a deciding factor in the elections, making her a standout candidate in a field of three.
George Mureku Duker
On the other Hon. Mireku Duker, the incumbent candidate in the Tarkwa Nsuaem Constituency parliamentary race, faces significant hurdles as the elections approach.
The research by GEO-NET reveals that 42.5% of constituents are discouraged by Dukerโs perceived focus on addressing opposition backlash rather than presenting fresh ideas.
Additionally, 31.5% believe Dukerโs campaign leans too heavily on incumbency, which they feel lacks innovative policies to inspire confidence.
While a loyal base of 20.4% party sympathizers remain steadfast in their support, 5.6% of elite constituents criticize his lack of new policy proposals.
Geo-Net’s research concluded that Dukerโs campaign must address these concerns to regain momentum as his opponents gain ground with focused policy discussions.
Issah Salifu Taylor
For the NDC Candidate Issa Salifu Taylor, his performance in the Tarkwa Nsuaem parliamentary race is marked by mixed reviews, according to a GEO-NET analysis.
While 26.4% of constituents express hope in his ability to address key challenges in the constituency, 51.9% feel he has not convincingly articulated his policies.
Taylorโs perceived focus on issues related to opponent Joy Joycelyn Andoh has also alienated 21.7% of voters, who find such rhetoric emotionally charged. Despite these challenges, there is room for Taylor to gain traction if he can address pressing issues exhaustively and shift voter sentiment toward his candidacy.
As the December elections draw near, Taylor’s ability to align his message with constituents’ expectations will determine his success.
